DIY Clay and Macrame Rainbow Wall Hanging
Need a simple baby shower gift? I love this because it is so easy and hardly takes any time at all to make this clay and macrame rainbow wall hanging!
Here’s what you’ll need!
Clay - There are a TON of different kinds of clay! Since this is really simple, just find the color you like and you can make about two rainbows with one pack if you get the same size I did. The shade that I used was Pastel Mint. I really liked this because once I baked it, it came out as more of a turquoise color and is so pretty!
First set your oven to what is on your clack packet. Mine said 275 F.
Then take your clay and roll it into a ball. I found that sometimes the clay can seem really dry and crumbly, but once you start rolling it in a ball then it starts to soften up and is easier to work with.
After you roll it into a ball, then you can start rolling it into a long cylinder until it’s the length you want.
Bend the clay into the shape you want for the rainbow, and then lay parchment paper or a paper towel over it and flatten it with something flat.
To make the holes, I took a straw and just poked it through to where I wanted them.
Once you have it how you want it, put it in the oven for about 10 min. You’re clay packages will probably say 30 min, but mine was thin, so I only needed about 10 min.
Once it’s done in the oven, take macrame string and put them through the holes. You can make them any length you like, but each of my strings were about 8 in each.
Tie a knot so that they stay in place
Once you Have the macrame rope tied, then you can take a comb and brush out the macrame so that the strings are flowing.
You’re all done!!! Find a spot on the wall, or wrap it up for a gift!
